Our take on the Puma Deviate 3 Men's

The Puma Deviate 3 is a daily trainer with a full-length nitrogen-infused PEBA foam midsole and a carbon-composite PWRPLATE, a cheaper, more forgiving take on the race-day Deviate Nitro Elite. It stands out for a big 44 mm heel stack and a 10 mm drop, which suits heel strikers and runners who want cushioning with some plate-assisted pop. At $114.88 at Running Warehouse US as of November 3, 2026, it sits well below its usual $170 launch price and near the low end of what it has sold for.

Best forDaily training and long runsHeel strikers wanting max cushionRunners curious about a plated shoe without race-shoe stiffnessTempo work on roads
Pros
  • Full-length PEBA-based Nitro foam is light and bouncy
  • Carbon-composite plate adds roll-through without harsh stiffness
  • Generous 44 mm heel stack protects on long efforts
  • 10 mm drop suits heel strikers and rearfoot landers
  • PUMAGRIP outsole holds up in wet conditions
  • Often discounted well under its $170 list price
Cons
  • At roughly 10 oz it is not a featherweight racer
  • 10 mm drop and tall stack feel unstable for some forefoot strikers
  • Plate and soft foam can feel vague on sharp turns
  • Upper runs warm in hot weather
  • Not a true supershoe replacement for race day

Questions and answers

Is the Deviate 3 worth it at $114.88?
Yes, if you want a cushioned plated daily trainer. At $114.88 at Running Warehouse US as of November 3, 2026, it costs far less than its $170 list price and undercuts most carbon-plated trainers.
How does it compare with the Deviate Nitro 2?
The Deviate 3 uses a taller 44 mm stack and a revised Nitro foam for more cushioning and bounce. It is a bit heavier and less nimble than the Nitro 2, so pick the older shoe if you want a firmer, quicker feel.
Is it good for race day?
It can handle a 5K or 10K, but it is a training shoe first. Racers wanting maximum speed should look at the Deviate Nitro Elite, which is lighter and stiffer.
What drop and stack does it have?
It has a 44 mm heel stack, a 34 mm forefoot stack, and a 10 mm heel-toe offset. That is a high-stack, rearfoot-friendly setup.
Does it fit true to size?
Most runners find it true to size, though the fit is on the narrower side. If you have wide feet or wear thick socks, consider a half size up.
When is it cheapest?
Puma trainers usually drop most during end-of-season sales and around major holidays. The current $114.88 at Running Warehouse US as of November 3, 2026 is already close to the lowest price seen for this model.
Where is the Puma Deviate 3 Men's cheapest?
At Running Warehouse US, for $114.88, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Puma Deviate 3 Men's?
Rated 4.6 out of 5 from 464 ratings.
