Our take on the Pyle Gaming Projector

The Pyle Gaming Projector is a white LCD projector with native 1080p resolution and a 400-lumen LED light source. It covers the legacy inputs many budget projectors skip: HDMI, USB, DVI, RCA and VGA. At 400 lumens it is dim for a living room with lights on, so it fits a dark room or a bedroom wall. No current price was provided, so check the latest best price against its recent range before buying.

Best forDark bedrooms and game roomsRetro consoles and older PCs that need VGA, RCA or DVIBudget buyers who want native 1080pCasual movie and party use
Pros
  • Native 1920 x 1080 resolution, not a scaled 720p image
  • LED light source lasts far longer than a lamp and needs no replacement bulb
  • Wide input set: HDMI, USB, DVI, RCA and VGA
  • Compact white body is easy to move between rooms
Cons
  • 400 lumens is dim; ambient light washes the picture out
  • LCD panel contrast is modest, so blacks look gray
  • No built-in streaming apps or smart platform
  • No stated refresh rate or input lag, so fast-game performance is unproven

Questions and answers

Is 400 lumens bright enough?
Only for a dark or heavily dimmed room. In daylight or with ceiling lights on, the image will look washed out. A screen of 60 to 80 inches diagonal in a dark room is the realistic use.
Does it work with a PS5 or Xbox Series X?
It accepts HDMI, so it will display the console, but Pyle does not publish input lag or refresh rate. Treat it as a casual gaming projector, not a competitive one.
Do I need a separate speaker?
Plan on one. Built-in audio on projectors this size is usually weak, and the listing gives no speaker specs. HDMI or RCA audio out to a soundbar or speakers is the safer setup.
What is in the box?
Expect the projector, a power cable and a remote. Cables for HDMI, VGA or RCA are usually not included, so buy the one your source needs.
When is it cheapest?
Budget projectors like this tend to dip during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Check the price history before buying so you can tell a real drop from a list price.
