Our take on the RAY BAN Sunglasses Wayfarer

The Ray-Ban Wayfarer is the classic thick-framed plastic sunglasses shape, sold in four lens widths from 50 mm to 58 mm and with polarized, mirrored or gradient lenses. The 4.7-out-of-5 average across roughly 19,000 ratings makes it one of the most consistently well-rated sunglasses sold. It suits people who want a recognizable, durable everyday frame rather than a sport or metal design.

Pros
  • Iconic shape that fits most faces
  • Acetate-style plastic frame holds up to daily use

  • Widely available, so replacement lenses and parts are easy to find
Cons
  • Thick plastic frame can feel heavy and press on the nose
  • Non-polarized versions offer less glare relief
  • Mirrored and gradient lenses cost more than plain ones
  • Fakes are common, so buy from an authorized seller

Questions and answers

Is the Ray-Ban Wayfarer worth it?
Yes for most buyers. The shape is proven, the frame lasts, and polarized lenses make a real difference in glare. Cheaper copies exist, but the optics and build are the reason people pay more.
Which size Wayfarer should I get?
The 50 mm and 52 mm fit narrow to average faces; 55 mm is the common standard; 58 mm suits wide faces. Measure your current glasses' lens width and match it.
Are the lenses polarized?
Some versions are polarized and some are not, so check the lens type on the specific pair. Polarized cuts glare from water and roads; plain lenses only darken.
How do these compare with the original Wayfarer?
The current frame is the same basic shape with updated materials and more lens options. Older pairs feel slightly different in weight and hinge feel, but the fit is close.
What comes in the box?
A Ray-Ban case and cleaning cloth come with the sunglasses. Some sellers include a certificate of authenticity; confirm with the seller if that matters to you.
When is the price lowest?
Discounts tend to appear around major sales events and at the end of a season. Watch the price history for a drop below the recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the RAY BAN Sunglasses Wayfarer?
