Will it work with my TCL QM8?

Yes, the QM8 is on the listed compatible models, along with the QM7, Q7, Q6, Q5, S5, S4 and S3. Check your TV's exact model number before ordering, since TCL uses several remote generations.

Is it better than the original TCL remote?

It covers the same core functions over Bluetooth, but it is a third-party remote. Expect a different button feel and no guarantee of TCL-specific extras like voice search.

Does it need to be pointed at the TV?

No. It pairs over Bluetooth, so it works without a clear line of sight, unlike infrared remotes.

What batteries does it take?

The listing does not state the battery size. Most TCL-style remotes use two AAA batteries, so check the package or seller details before buying.

One black RC813 remote. Batteries are typically sold separately.
