Our take on the Rechargeable LED Headlamp Waterproof USB Head Lamp with Motion Sensor

This is a single rechargeable LED headlamp with a USB charging port and a motion sensor that turns the light on or off with a wave of the hand. It is built for hands-free light in the dark: camping, car repairs, running, or working in a crawlspace. The motion sensor is the standout feature, since it lets you switch the beam without touching the lamp with dirty or gloved hands. It is a generic, unbranded model, so build quality and brightness vary between sellers, and no current price or price history is available to judge whether now is a good time to buy.

Questions and answers

Is the motion sensor reliable?
It works well for short tasks, but a wave of the hand can also trigger it when you turn your head near objects. Most users find it handy for dirty or gloved hands.
How long does the battery last per charge?
No runtime is stated for this model. Expect a few hours on high and longer on low settings, which is typical for headlamps of this size and price.
Is it actually waterproof?
It is listed as water resistant, not waterproof. It should handle rain and splashes, but do not submerge it or wear it swimming.
What comes in the box?
One headlamp and a USB charging cable. A wall adapter is usually not included, so you charge it from a computer or phone charger.
Is it good for running?
It is light enough for jogging, but the beam may bounce with each step. Tighten the strap and use the lower brightness setting for steadier light.
When is the best time to buy?
Headlamps like this usually drop in price during outdoor-gear sales and around the holidays. Check the price history before buying.
