Is this daybed good for everyday sleeping?

It is a twin daybed, so it works for regular sleeping, but the mattress sits on a wood platform rather than a spring base. Pair it with a firm twin mattress for nightly use.

What mattress size fits it?

It takes a standard twin mattress, about 38 by 75 inches. A mattress around 8 to 10 inches thick keeps the back usable as a sofa.

Does it need assembly?

Yes. Wood-frame upholstered daybeds like this typically ship flat and need the frame, back and arms bolted together. Expect about an hour with two people.

Is velvet a good choice with pets?

Velvet is soft but catches pet hair and shows claw snags. A lint roller helps, and a washable throw over the seat keeps it cleaner.

How does it compare with a metal daybed?

The wood frame and upholstered back make it sturdier and more comfortable to lean against than a metal daybed. It costs more and is heavier to move.

When is the best time to buy?

Furniture prices often dip around major holiday sales and at the end of a season. Compare the current price against the product's price history before buying.

Our take on the Red Barrel Studio Upholstered Daybed

A twin-size upholstered daybed from Red Barrel Studio with a wood frame and tufted velvet cover. It works as a sofa by day and a bed by night, which makes it a fit for guest rooms, studios and small bedrooms. The tufted velvet gives it a softer, more finished look than a plain metal daybed.
