Is this jar waterproof enough to hold water or plants?

No. The carved lattice body is pierced, so water would leak through the cutouts. Use it with a liner or as a dry decorative piece only.

How big is it next to a standard temple jar?

At about 17.75 inches tall and 9.25 inches wide, it is larger than most tabletop temple jars, which typically run 10 to 14 inches. Plan for floor or console placement.

Does it come with a lid?

Listings for this style usually show a matching lid, but confirm the exact contents with the seller before ordering, since the carved lattice design varies by listing.

How do I clean the carved cutouts?

Use a soft brush or a vacuum with a brush attachment on low suction. Avoid soaking, since water and grit can dull the gold finish.

When is the best time to buy it?

Decorative porcelain tends to discount around home-decor sales events and the winter holidays. Track the price history and buy when it drops below its recent range.

Our take on the Red Lantern 16" Carved Lattice Decorative Temple Jar, White

The Red Lantern 16" Carved Lattice Decorative Temple Jar is a porcelain accent piece with a pierced, lattice-cut body and a gold finish. It stands about 17.75 inches tall and 9.25 inches wide, so it reads as a floor or console-scale jar rather than a shelf knickknack. The carved openwork lets light and shadow play across the spiral pattern, which is the main reason to choose it over a plain white temple jar.
