Our take on the Redfield Personal Office Safe

The Redfield Personal Office Safe is a small steel lockbox with a digital keypad lock and three locking bolts, sized to sit in a closet, under a desk or on a shelf. Its interior measures about 20.4 by 12.2 by 7.9 inches, so it holds documents, a laptop, cash and small valuables rather than long guns or bulky items. It is a low-cost entry into a keypad safe, and the $55.99 at Academy Sports + Outdoors as of November 4, 2026 is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Questions and answers

Is the Redfield Personal Office Safe worth it?
At $55.99 at Academy Sports + Outdoors as of November 4, 2026, it is a reasonable buy if you need basic keypad security for documents and small valuables. It is not a substitute for a heavy fire-rated safe.
What can fit inside it?
The interior is about 20.4 inches wide, 12.2 inches deep and 7.9 inches high. That fits letter-size papers, a thin laptop, cash, passports and jewelry, but not binders standing upright or most handguns on a shelf.
Does it need batteries?
Yes. The digital lock runs on batteries, so keep a spare set on hand and check the keypad periodically. Most safes of this type also include a backup key for when the battery dies.
Can it be bolted down?
Most personal safes this size have pre-drilled mounting holes for bolting to a floor or shelf. Check the box contents for bolts, since they are not always included.
Is it fireproof?
No. The Redfield is a steel security box with no fire or water rating, so keep irreplaceable documents in a fire-rated container.
When is it cheapest?
Only Academy Sports + Outdoors lists a new price, $55.99 as of November 4, 2026, so there is little competition to drive it lower. Watch for store promotions rather than expecting a broad price drop.
Where is the Redfield Personal Office Safe cheapest?
At Academy Sports + Outdoors, for $55.99, as of our latest check.
