Our take on the Redi Shade Original Blackout Pleated Paper Shade

The Redi Shade Original Blackout is a pleated paper shade that trims to fit and sticks up with no drill or hardware. It blocks light for bedrooms and rentals, and the 36 by 72 inch sheet covers a standard window. At $29.97 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against. Treat it as a cheap, temporary blackout fix rather than a permanent window treatment.

Questions and answers

Is it really blackout?
It blocks most light, but thin paper can let a glow through and edges may leak. It is best for dimming a bedroom, not a pitch-black room.
Can I cut it to fit my window?
Yes. Trim the paper with scissors to your width before sticking it up. The 36 by 72 inch sheet suits a standard window.
Will it damage my window frame?
The adhesive strip can pull paint or leave residue when removed. Clean the frame first and peel slowly.
How long does it last?
It is a temporary shade. Expect months of use before the adhesive weakens or the paper creases.
Is $29.97 a good price?
It is the only new price listed, at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, so there is no recent range to judge against. Compare with other blackout paper shades before buying.
Does it need any tools or hardware?
No. It sticks to the top of the frame and folds up by hand; no drill, brackets or cords.
