Our take on the Repos Production Dixit

Dixit is a party card game for 3 to 8 players where one player gives a clue about a surreal illustration and everyone else picks a card to match it. The 2018 second edition from Libellud and Repos Production plays in about 30 minutes and is aimed at ages 8 and up. At $12.97 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it is a low-cost entry into the series; the base game is the only thing you need to start.

Best for
Family game nights with mixed ages
Groups of 3 to 8 players
People who like storytelling and bluffing over rules-heavy games
Casual parties and holiday gatherings
Pros
  • Simple rules that teach in a few minutes
  • Scales cleanly from 3 to 8 players
  • Illustrations carry the game and spark conversation
  • Short 30-minute rounds suit mixed attention spans
  • Works as a base set for later Dixit expansions
Cons
  • Depends on players' creativity; shy groups can stall
  • Scoring is abstract and some players find it fiddly
  • Repeated plays wear out the same 84 cards
  • Not a strategy game; little control over outcomes
