Our take on the Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT Retractable Tonneau Cover

The Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT is a retractable hard tonneau cover for the 2009-2018 (and 2019-2022 Classic) Ram 1500 with the 5 ft 7 in bed and no RamBox. It pairs a vinyl-over-aluminum panel with a keyed lock and multiple latching positions, so the bed can be opened, closed and locked without dropping the tailgate. The cover retracts into a 7.25-inch-deep canister and adds a T-slot MaxTrak rail system for mounting accessories. At $1,629.00 at 2to4wheels as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, with four stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Will it fit my Ram 1500?
It fits 2009-2018 Ram 1500 and 2019-2022 Classic models with the 5 ft 7 in bed and no RamBox. It does not fit trucks with RamBox or other bed lengths.
Can I open the tailgate with the cover closed?
Yes. The cover locks independently and can be opened, closed and locked without opening the tailgate.
Does it work with a toolbox or ladder rack?
No. It is not toolbox or ladder rack compatible, though the MaxTrak rails accept T-slot accessories.
How much bed space does the canister take?
The canister is 7.25 inches deep and mounts inside the bed rails at the cab, so it shortens usable bed length by that amount.
Is the cover lockable?
Yes. A key unlocks the cover, and multiple latching positions let you lock it partly or fully closed.
