Our take on the Ronson 99062 Lighter Fuel 8 oz, Pack of 24

Ronson 99062 is an 8 fl oz bottle of petroleum-based lighter fluid for wick lighters, sold here as a 24-bottle case. It is a plain light petroleum distillate with a mild odor and a 230°C burn, in a bilingual plastic bottle. The case is aimed at people who refill often: heavy smokers, collectors, and anyone stocking a shop or cabin. The best new price is $119.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, about $5 per bottle, and only one store lists it new.

Pros
  • Genuine Ronson fluid, a long-established lighter fuel brand
  • 8 oz per bottle is a large size; the 24-pack works out to about $5 a bottle
  • Mild, low-odor formula compared with harsh generic fluids
  • Works with all wick lighters, not just Ronson models
  • Bilingual plastic bottle with a secure cap
Cons
  • Hazardous, ORMD-class item with a 4°C flash point; ships ground only and needs care in storage
  • 24 bottles is far more than a casual user needs and takes up space
  • Plastic bottles can leak or evaporate if stored loosely or in heat
  • Not for butane, torch or piezo lighters, only wick types
  • Only one store lists it new at this price, so availability is thin

Questions and answers

Is this the same as Zippo lighter fluid?
Both are petroleum-based wick lighter fluid and work the same way. Ronson is its own formula; some users find it slightly milder in odor.
Will it work in a butane torch or jet lighter?
No. This is liquid wick fuel only. Butane torches and jet lighters need pressurized butane gas.
How many refills does one 8 oz bottle give?
A typical wick lighter holds about 0.2 oz, so one bottle covers roughly 40 or more fills depending on the lighter and how full you fill it.
How should I store 24 bottles?
Keep them upright, capped, and away from heat, sparks and open flame. The flash point is 4°C, so treat it as flammable and keep it out of reach of children.
Can this ship by air?
It is an ORMD hazardous item, so it generally ships ground only. Expect longer delivery than ordinary goods.
When is the price lowest?
The current best is $119.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026. Case prices move with fuel costs and listings are few, so compare before buying.
