Is this rug actually machine washable?

Yes. It is a chenille-polyester rug marketed as washable. Use a cold, gentle cycle and air dry or tumble low to protect the backing.

Will it work in a hallway with dogs?

Yes. The no-pile surface and pet-friendly build suit high-traffic pet areas, and the 7'10" length fits most hallways. Add a rug pad so it does not slide.

It is 0.03 inches thick with no pile, so it is essentially flat. That helps under doors and chairs but gives almost no cushioning.

Does it need a rug pad?

Not required, but recommended. The thin backing can shift on smooth floors, and a pad adds grip and a little comfort.
