Our take on the Ruie 8lbs Portable Fully Automatic Washing Machine with Drain Pump

The Ruie 8lbs is a small top-loading portable washer with an impeller instead of an agitator and a built-in drain pump, so it can empty into a sink or a higher drain. The 8 lb / 1 cu ft drum suits a few shirts, underwear and small loads rather than a full family wash. It is aimed at apartments, dorms, RVs and anyone without a laundry hookup. It is a niche import brand, so parts and support are the main risk.

Best forApartment and dorm dwellers without a washer hookup
RV and camper owners
Washing small loads of delicates or workout clothes
Renters who want a low-cost backup washer
Pros
  • Drain pump empties into a sink or standpipe without gravity feed
  • Impeller design is gentler on fabrics than a central agitator
  • 8 lb capacity handles a few days of light clothing
  • Top-load lid makes loading and adding items easy
  • Pink finish stands out from the usual white appliances
Cons
  • 1 cu ft drum is small; no bedding or big loads
  • Impeller washers clean heavily soiled clothes less thoroughly
  • No hot-fill valve on most portables; you add water by hose or bucket
  • Import brand means limited warranty service and parts in the US
  • Spin speed is low, so clothes stay damp and need air drying

Questions and answers

Is 8 lbs enough for a family?
No. Eight pounds is roughly a few shirts, socks and underwear, or one set of small towels. A family will still need a full-size machine or a laundromat for most loads.
Does it need a special hookup?
It fills from a hose or by pouring water in and drains through the built-in pump, so it can sit near a sink. It does not need a permanent plumbing connection.
Can it wash bulky items like a comforter?
No. The 1 cu ft drum and impeller are too small for a comforter or a large blanket. Stick to small loads of clothing and delicates.
How does it compare with a twin-tub portable washer?
A single-drum unit like this is simpler and takes less space, but a twin tub usually spins clothes drier. Choose this one for convenience and small footprint.
What should I check before buying an import brand?
Confirm the warranty terms, the return window and whether replacement parts are available in the US. Support and parts are the weak point for lesser-known brands.
