Is the 5-in-1 nozzle worth it over a standard can?

Yes if you spray both broad panels and small details. The wide fan covers flat metal faster, and the dot setting saves masking on edges and rivets.

What is the difference between this and Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint?

Stops Rust is aimed at exterior metal and rust protection. 2X is a general-purpose paint for wood, plastic and metal with broader color choice but less focus on rust.

How much surface does one can cover?

Rust-Oleum rates a 12 oz can at roughly 10 to 12 square feet per coat on a smooth surface. Porous or rusty metal takes more, so plan on two thin coats.

Does it need a primer?

On bare or rusty steel, a rust-inhibiting primer improves adhesion and life. On sound, previously painted metal, clean and scuff the surface and you can spray directly.

How long does it take to dry?

It is typically dry to the touch in about 20 to 30 minutes and recoatable within an hour. Full hardness and exterior use take longer, so keep it dry for a day.

When is the 6-pack the better buy?

When you are painting a full railing, set of chairs or gate and want one color on hand. For a single small repair, one can is cheaper and avoids storing leftovers.
