Is $42.80 a good price for this rug?

Yes. That is the best new price among 5 stores as of November 8, 2026, at English Elm, and it is low for a 5' by 8' shag rug.

Does this rug need a rug pad?

It helps. The jute and polyester backing can slide on hardwood and tile, and a pad also cushions the thick pile.

Is it safe for kids and pets?

The rug is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and listed as non-toxic, and the polypropylene pile can be spot cleaned. The deep shag does collect pet hair, so vacuum often.

Can it go in a dining room?

It is listed for dining rooms, but chairs sink into a 2.5-inch shag pile and crumbs are hard to remove. It works better in bedrooms and living rooms.

Vacuum with a suction-only head, blot spills with mild soap and water, and let it air dry. Avoid a beater bar, which pulls at shag fibers.

It is 5 feet by 8 feet, listed as square, with a 2.5-inch pile height.
