Are the Salomon Toundra Pro CSWP boots really warm to -40°F?

Salomon rates the Aerotherm Aerogel insulation to -40°F / -40°C. That rating assumes proper socks and active use; most wearers will not test the limit.

Are they fully waterproof?

Yes. The PU-coated leather upper is waterproof, and the high shaft keeps snow out. Water can still enter over the top if you wade deep.

How tall is the shaft?

The shaft is 205 mm, roughly mid-calf. That is taller than most winter hikers and helps in deep snow.

What is the heel and drop?

The midsole heel height is 19 mm with an 11 mm drop, so the boot sits fairly flat for a stable winter stride.
