Is the Alphacross good for hiking?

Yes for easy to moderate trails and day hikes. It lacks the stiffer protection and deeper lugs of Salomon's hiking-specific models, so skip it for rocky scrambles or heavy packs.

No. The mesh upper is breathable but not waterproof, so feet get wet in rain or wet grass. Salomon's Gore-Tex models are the wet-weather option.

It runs true to length but on the narrow side. Buyers with wide feet should size up half a size or try it on first.

Can I use it on pavement?

Yes. The lugs are shallow enough for road and sidewalk walking, though they wear faster with heavy pavement use.

It is the lowest new price among the three stores listing it as of November 4, 2026. That is a reasonable entry price for a Salomon trail shoe; watch for clearance drops at the end of the season.

One pair of shoes. Insoles are included; socks and other accessories are not.
