Questions and answers

Is the Salton Cool Touch Digital Kettle worth $79.99?

At $79.99 at Salton as of November 8, 2026, you pay for temperature control, a digital display and a cool-touch body. If you only boil water for coffee, a basic kettle costs less. If you brew green or white tea at set temperatures, the controls earn their price.

What temperatures can it reach?

You can set the water temperature from 70°C to 100°C. That covers green tea around 70–80°C, oolong and French press around 85–95°C, and a full boil at 100°C.

Does the outside really stay cool?

Yes. The double-wall body keeps the outer surface cool while the water is hot, which helps in households with children. The lid area and spout still get hot.

Can I remove the limescale filter?

No. The limescale filter is fixed, so you rinse it in place rather than taking it out. In hard-water areas, descale the kettle regularly with a citric acid or vinegar solution.

What is in the box?

The kettle and its 360° cordless base. The base is 120 V, so it is for North American outlets.

How does it compare with a stovetop or basic electric kettle?

It heats faster than a stovetop kettle and gives you exact temperatures a basic electric kettle cannot. The trade-off is a higher price and a bulkier body than a plain 1.5 L kettle.
