Questions and answers

Is the Samsonite Freeform 23" worth it?
It is a solid pick if you want a light hardside carry-on with smooth spinner wheels. Check the pull handle when it arrives, since that is the most common complaint.
Is it a carry-on size?
Yes. The exterior measures 21" x 14.5" x 9.5", which fits most major US airline carry-on limits. Check your airline's rules before you fly.
How much does it expand?
The expansion zip adds about 1 inch of depth for extra packing capacity. That helps on the return trip but can push it past some airline size limits.
Does it have a built-in lock?
No. The Freeform carry-on does not include a built-in TSA lock, so plan to add your own.
What is in the box?
You get the suitcase itself with its pull handle, top carry handle and spinner wheels. Accessories such as a lock or packing cubes are not included.
When is it cheapest?
Hardside carry-ons usually drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Its latest best price was $159 at Distritech as of November 3.
