Our take on the Samsonite Freeform 27" Check-in Expandable Hardside Spinner

The Samsonite Freeform 27" is a medium-large hardside check-in spinner made from polypropylene, with an expandable main compartment and double spinner wheels. It sits between carry-on and large checked sizes, so it suits trips of roughly one to two weeks. The listed interior and exterior dimensions are inconsistent, so measure before you buy if space matters. The only recorded daily price is $218.39 at Macy's as of October 28, 2026, so there is no recent range to compare it against.

Questions and answers

Is the Samsonite Freeform 27" worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you want a light, expandable hardside check-in that rolls easily. At $218.39 at Macy's as of October 28, 2026, it is priced like a mid-range checked bag, so compare it with similar polypropylene spinners before deciding.
Is 27 inches carry-on size?
No. At 27 inches it is a check-in bag, not carry-on size for most US airlines. Confirm the airline's checked-bag limits before you fly.
How much extra space does the expansion add?
The bag expands by 1.5 inches, which adds a few days' worth of clothing or room for souvenirs. It does not turn it into a large suitcase.
Does it have a built-in lock?
The listed features do not mention a built-in TSA lock. Plan to use a separate luggage lock if you need one.
What is in the box?
The listing describes the suitcase with its retractable pull handle, carry handle and double spinner wheels. No accessories such as a lock or packing cubes are listed.
When is it cheapest?
The only recorded daily price is $218.39 at Macy's as of October 28, 2026, so there is no history yet to show a cheaper period. Watch for markdowns around major sales events.
