Is the Galaxy Z Fold5 worth buying in 2026?

At $439.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is a cheap way into a large-screen foldable. Weigh it against newer folds with better cameras and batteries, and check that Android updates still cover your planned years of use.

How is the Fold5 different from the Fold4?

The Fold5 closes flat with no gap, is lighter, and uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 instead of the 8+ Gen 1. The screens and battery capacity are essentially unchanged.

How long does the Fold5 battery last?

The 4,400 mAh cell typically gets most users through a day with mixed use. Heavy inner-screen video or gaming will need a midday charge; wireless charging and fast USB-C charging are supported.

Does the Fold5 support the S Pen?

Yes, but only the S Pen Fold Edition or S Pen Pro, and only on the main display. The cover screen does not accept pen input, and the pen is not included in the box.

What comes in the box?

The phone, a USB-C cable and a SIM ejector tool. There is no charger and no case, so budget for both.

When is the Fold5 cheapest?

Foldable prices drop around Samsung's Unpacked launches and Black Friday. The current $439.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026 is already well under launch pricing, so compare across the four stores listing it before buying.

Our take on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5

The Galaxy Z Fold5 is Samsung's 2023 book-style foldable: a 7.6-inch 2176 x 1812 AMOLED main screen at 120Hz that folds down to a narrower 23.1:9 cover display. It runs Android 13 on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, a 4,400 mAh battery, wireless charging and a side fingerprint sensor. The hinge closes flat with no gap, and the phone supports Samsung's S Pen (sold separately). At $439.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits far below its original launch price, though it is a two-generation-old model now.
