Our take on the Sealy Posturepedic Ripley 13" Plush Tight Top Mattress + Box Spring

The Sealy Posturepedic Ripley is a 13-inch plush innerspring mattress sold with a matching box spring. It uses a tight-top construction with a soft plush feel and is rated for up to 500 lbs. The set targets shoppers who want a traditional spring mattress with a box spring rather than a foam bed-in-a-box.

Questions and answers

Is the Sealy Posturepedic Ripley good for side sleepers?
Yes. The plush tight top cushions the shoulder and hip, which suits side sleepers. Back sleepers who want firm support may find it too soft.
Do I need a box spring with this mattress?
The set includes a box spring, and Sealy designs the Ripley to pair with it. Using it on a slatted frame without the box spring may void coverage terms.
How firm is the Ripley plush?
It sits on the soft end of medium. Expect noticeable sink at the shoulders and hips rather than a firm, flat surface.
What weight does it support?
Sealy rates the Ripley for up to 500 lbs total. That covers most couples, but heavier sleepers should check the warranty terms.
Can the mattress be flipped?
No. It is a one-sided tight top, so rotate it head to foot every few months instead of flipping. Clean spills by spot cleaning only.
When is the best time to buy it?
Mattress sets usually drop during holiday sales and Memorial Day and Labor Day events. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
