Is the Sena S1 worth $229?

If you ride in groups and would otherwise buy a helmet plus a separate intercom, the built-in Mesh and Bluetooth can offset the price. As a plain aero road helmet it is heavy and priced above most non-smart helmets.

How does the Sena S1 compare with a helmet plus a Sena intercom?

The S1 integrates the audio and rear light into the helmet, so there is nothing to clamp on and the weight is spread across the shell. A separate unit lets you keep the intercom if you replace the helmet, and often costs less overall.

What is the battery life of the Sena S1?

Sena does not list talk time or charge time in the specs here. Check Sena's product page for the rated intercom hours before a long ride.

What head size does size L fit?

Size L fits a head circumference of 59 to 63 cm. Measure around the widest part of your head before ordering, since the S1 has no size adjustment listed beyond the fit system.

Does the Sena S1 work with other Sena intercoms?

It uses Sena Mesh Intercom, which is designed to connect with other Mesh-equipped Sena units. Pairing with older Bluetooth-only Sena headsets is more limited.

When is the Sena S1 cheapest?

Only one new price, $229 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, is listed, so there is no recent low to time a purchase against. Watch for seasonal helmet sales.

Our take on the Sena S1

The Sena S1 is a road cycling helmet with Sena's Mesh Intercom and Bluetooth 5.2 built in, so riders can talk to each other and take calls without adding a separate headset. It uses an in-mold polycarbonate shell over EPS, has five front vents and two rear exhausts, and a built-in rear LED for visibility. The size L fits heads of 59 to 63 cm; Sena lists the M at 340 g, which is heavy for an aero road helmet. At $229 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.
