Is the Serta Vail sleeper sofa worth it?

It is a reasonable pick if you need a wide sofa that occasionally becomes a bed. The Blue-Ribbon spring unit and reversible cushions put it above foam-only sleepers. If guests sleep over often, a dedicated mattress or a higher-end sleeper is better.

How does it compare with a futon?

The Vail is a full sofa with a folding mattress and spring support, so it sits and sleeps more like a real bed than a futon. It is heavier and costs more than most futons.

What size bed does it make?

An 86-inch sleeper sofa of this type typically opens to a full or queen mattress. Confirm the mattress size with the retailer before buying, since it varies by model.

Can I change the fabric?

Serta sleeper sofas are usually sold in several upholstery options through furniture retailers. Availability depends on the store, so check which fabrics that retailer stocks.

How do I keep the cushions looking good?

Flip the reversible seat cushions regularly and fluff the loose back pillows. Rotating them spreads wear and keeps the sofa looking fuller.

Sleeper sofas usually drop during holiday furniture sales and end-of-season clearance. Compare prices across retailers, since Serta sleepers are not sold at one fixed price.

Our take on the Serta Vail 86" Convertible Sleeper Sofa

The Serta Vail is an 86-inch convertible sleeper sofa with a Blue-Ribbon spring unit, loose-pillow back and reversible seat cushions. It works as a full-size sofa that folds flat into a bed, so it suits living rooms and guest rooms that need both. Serta's sleeper line is sold through furniture retailers rather than one fixed store, so pricing varies by retailer and fabric. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.
