Is the Shark Vertex IZ492H good for pet hair?

Yes. It is designed around pet hair, with a self-cleaning brushroll that sheds wrapped hair and HEPA filtration to trap dander. The trade-off is weight: 12.76 lbs gets tiring on stairs and above-floor spots.

How long does the battery really last?

Shark rates it at up to 60 minutes, which applies to the lowest suction setting. Expect much less on high suction or with the brushroll running, so a large home may need a second battery.

Does it stand up on its own?

Yes. The folding handle lets the wand bend so the vacuum freestands for storage and pauses mid-clean. That is a real convenience over sticks that must lean on a wall.

Is it good on hard floors as well as carpet?

It is a multi-surface vacuum with variable suction, so it handles both. The 10.63-inch head is wide and somewhat bulky, which makes it less nimble around tight edges and under low furniture.

What comes in the box?

A typical Vertex stick package includes the vacuum, the removable battery, a charger and at least one crevice or pet tool. Confirm the exact attachments for the IZ492H configuration before ordering.

When is the best time to buy it?

Cordless stick prices swing around major sales events and model refreshes. Track its price history here and buy when the current price sits near the low end of its recent range rather than at list price.

Our take on the Shark Vertex IZ492H

The Shark Vertex IZ492H is a cordless stick vacuum built around pet hair, with a self-cleaning brushroll, HEPA-certified filtration and a folding wand that lets it stand on its own. It runs up to 60 minutes on a removable 25.2V lithium-ion battery that recharges in about 3.5 hours, and it weighs 12.76 lbs. Its 10.63-inch cleaning width and HyperVelocity suction put it in the larger, heavier end of cordless sticks.
