Our take on the Sharpie Permanent Markers

A 12-pack of classic black Sharpie permanent markers with a chisel tip that draws both broad and fine lines. The ink is quick-drying, fade-resistant and water-resistant, and marks paper, plastic, metal and most other surfaces. The tips are pressure-resistant, so they hold up under heavy use. At $8.68 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, this is the lowest new price among the 3 stores that carry it.

What reviewers say

Owners treat these as the default permanent marker: reliable, long-lasting and good for labeling and classroom use. Complaints center on the strong smell and ink that soaks through thin paper and stains fabric permanently.
