What is included in the box?

The shell pack: 22x14 bass drum, 12x8 rack tom, 16x16 floor tom and a snare. Cymbals, hardware, pedal, snare stand and throne are not included.

Is this a good kit for a beginner?

It is a premium vintage-style kit. A beginner would also need to budget for stands, a pedal, a throne and cymbals on top of the shell pack.

What does mahogany/poplar sound like?

The combination gives a warm, round tone with softer attack than maple or birch, which suits rock, blues and roots music.

Can I add a second rack tom?

Our take on the Slingerland Radio King 4-Piece Drum Kit

The Slingerland Radio King 4-Piece is a shell pack in the classic Radio King line: a 22x14 bass drum, 12x8 rack tom, 16x16 floor tom and a matching snare, built from mahogany/poplar shells and finished in Marine Pearl wrap. It is aimed at players who want the vintage American look and warm, round tone of a Radio King set. The pack is shells only, so cymbals, stands, pedal and throne are extra. The best new price is $3,198.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, with three stores listing it new.
