How much water does it hold?

Smeg lists this stovetop kettle at about 1.7 liters, enough for roughly six to seven cups.

Yes. It has a whistling spout cap that sounds when the water reaches a boil.

Only if you want the Smeg look. A basic whistling kettle boils water for a fraction of the price, and this one has no electric features.

Our take on the Smeg Whistling Stovetop Kettle Red

The Smeg Whistling Stovetop Kettle is a stainless steel stovetop kettle in Smeg's retro 1950s style, finished in glossy red. It whistles when the water boils and works on gas, electric and induction hobs. Its only new price is $179.95 at Nordstrom as of November 8, 2026, with no other new listings to compare against. That is a premium price for a stovetop kettle, so most of the cost is the Smeg name and finish rather than performance.
