Is the RX100 VII worth it over a phone?

Yes if you need the 200mm reach, fast tracking autofocus, or 4K with a mic input. A recent phone beats it in low light and convenience, so the zoom and controls are the reason to pay.

How does it compare with the RX100 VI?

They share the same 24-200mm lens and body size. The VII adds the stacked sensor, real-time tracking, 20fps blackout-free bursts, and a mic jack, so it is the better pick for action and video.

Is the battery good enough for a day of shooting?

No. Expect roughly 240 shots per charge, less with video. Carry at least one spare battery for a full day.

Does it shoot 4K video?

Yes, 4K at up to 30fps with full pixel readout and no crop, plus a mic input. There is no headphone jack.

The camera, one battery, a USB cable, a strap, and a user guide. There is no external charger, so plan to charge in-camera or buy one.
