Best forFamilies with toddlers and young kids (age 3+)Small backyards with limited spaceBuyers who want swings and a glider in one setBudget-minded first swing set buyers
Pros
  • Two swings plus a two-person glider give several kids something to do at once
  • Swings adjust in height as kids grow
  • Compact footprint at about 6.2 ft wide and 6.8 ft high
  • 400 lb total weight capacity covers a few small children
  • Wooden frame looks more natural in a yard than a metal A-frame
Cons
  • Wood frame needs assembly and periodic checks for splinters, rot and loose hardware
  • 400 lb is a total limit, not per swing, so it fills up fast
  • No slide, climbing wall or fort, so play value is limited to swinging
  • Wooden sets can wobble or shift unless anchored and set on level ground
  • Not suited to older or heavier kids

Questions and answers

Is the Sportspower Madison swing set worth it at $168?
At $168.00 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, it is a low-cost way to get two swings and a glider. Expect a basic wooden frame, not a full play center with a slide or fort.
How much weight can it hold?
Sportspower rates the set at 400 lb total, which covers several small children at once. That is a combined limit, not 400 lb per swing.
What age is it for?
It is rated for children 3 years and up. The height-adjustable swings let you lower the seats for smaller kids and raise them as they grow.
How much space do I need?
The set is about 6.2 ft wide and 6.8 ft high. Leave clearance in front of and behind the swings for safe swinging, and set it on level ground.
What comes in the box?
You get the wooden frame, two belt swings with height-adjustable ropes or chains, and the two-person Roman glider. Assembly is required.
Does it need to be anchored?
Yes. Wooden swing sets should be anchored to the ground and checked regularly for loose bolts and splinters, especially before each season.
Where is the Sportspower Madison Wooden Swing Set with 2 Height Adjustable Swings and 2 Person Roman Glider Swing cheapest?
At Walmart, for $168.00, as of our latest check.
