How many sheets can it actually bind?

The specs say 10 sheets, but the product description says up to 5 sheets of 80gsm paper. Treat 5 sheets as the realistic figure and test your own paper before relying on 10.

Does it work on thick or glossy paper?

It is rated for standard 80gsm copy paper. Thick cardstock and glossy stock are likely to exceed what the punch and fold can handle.

Do I still need a shredder-safe option?

That is the point of it. There are no metal staples, so bound documents can go straight into the shredder without pulling anything out.

At $12.99 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, it costs about what a few boxes of staples do and never needs refilling. It is worth it if you mostly bind a handful of pages and shred them later.

Can it staple in the middle of a page or along an edge?

No. It binds at the corner, so it is not a substitute for a full stapler when you need edge binding or booklet stapling.

Our take on the Staple-Free Stapler

The Plus Staple-Free Stapler is a desktop paper fastener that punches a small hook through the corner of a sheet and folds it to bind pages, so it never needs staples or refilling. It is aimed at light office and home paperwork, and the listing states a 10-sheet capacity while the description says it binds up to 5 sheets of 80gsm paper. The best new price is $12.99 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, with only one store pricing it new, so there is no recent price range to compare against.
