Our take on the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection bundles the two 2000s Pandemic Battlefront games with online multiplayer, released March 14, 2024, by Aspyr. It covers the ground battles of Battlefront (2004) and Battlefront II (2005), including space battles and hero play in the sequel. The Switch version supports Nintendo Account family-group lending. It is a nostalgia package for fans of the originals, not a modern shooter.

Questions and answers

Is it worth buying if I played the originals?
If you want both games with online multiplayer on Switch, yes. If you still own the originals and only play solo, the value is thinner.
How does it compare with the modern Battlefront II?
This is the 2004 and 2005 Pandemic games, so expect simpler gunplay, older graphics and no live-service progression. The modern EA game looks and plays very differently.
Does it have split-screen multiplayer?
Yes. Local split-screen is included alongside online play, which suits couch sessions.
Can I play online with friends on other platforms?
No. There is no cross-play, so online matches are limited to your own platform.
What is included in the collection?
Both Star Wars: Battlefront (2004) and Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005), with their campaigns and multiplayer modes, including space battles.
When is it cheapest?
Star Wars games go on sale often around May the Fourth and major store sales. Check the price history before buying.
