Is the Steelite 62cc chainsaw worth it?

It is a low-cost way to get a 62cc, 20-inch gas saw for occasional residential work. Expect to tune the carburetor and maintain it more than a pro-brand saw.

Can I use this chainsaw in California?

No. It is listed as not CARB-compliant, so it does not meet California emissions rules and cannot be legally sold or operated there.

What chain does the Steelite 62cc use?

It takes a 0.325-inch pitch skip-tooth semi-chisel chain on a 20-inch solid sprocket-nose bar. Match pitch, gauge and drive-link count when buying a replacement.

What fuel mix does it need?

It is a 2-cycle gas engine, so it runs on gasoline mixed with 2-cycle oil. Follow the ratio in the manual rather than guessing.

Is a 62cc saw too much for light yard work?

It is more saw than needed for small branches. For light trimming, a smaller saw is easier to handle; the 62cc size pays off on larger trunks and firewood.

Our take on the Steelite 62cc Gas Powered Chainsaw 20 Inch

The Steelite 62cc Gas Powered Chainsaw is a rear-handle, 2-cycle gas saw with a 20-inch solid sprocket-nose bar and a 3.9 HP engine. It uses a 0.325-inch skip-tooth semi-chisel chain, a setup aimed at fast cutting and clearing rather than fine finish work. It is rated for residential use, so it suits occasional storm cleanup and firewood more than daily professional work. It is not CARB-compliant, which matters if you live in California or another state that enforces CARB rules.
