How much laundry does one hamper hold?

Each hamper holds 18.62 gallons, or 2.1 bushels. That is roughly a week of laundry for one or two people, or several days for a family.

Is the lid secure enough to carry a full hamper by it?

The lid is a pull-on fit, not a latch. Carry the hamper by its integrated side handles instead, since lifting by the lid can pop it off.

Empty hampers nest inside each other for storage. With lids on, they stack only if the load is light and balanced.

The sides have a square hole pattern that lets some air through. Damp towels still need to dry before going in.

It makes sense if you want matching hampers for several rooms or family members. For one person, a single hamper costs less and takes less space.

Each measures about 22 1/4 inches wide, 17 3/8 inches deep and 19 7/8 inches tall. Check closet and laundry room clearance before buying four.
