Our take on the Street Fighter 6 PlayStation 5

Street Fighter 6 is Capcom's 2023 flagship fighting game, built around the Drive System (Drive Impact, Drive Parry, Drive Rush) and three modes: World Tour, Battle Hub and Fighting Ground. It ships with 18 fighters and a modern control scheme that lets newcomers pull off specials with simple inputs. The physical PS5 disc is widely discounted now that the game has been out for a while, so it usually sits well below its $59.99 launch price.

Pros
  • Drive System adds meter management depth to every exchange
  • Modern controls make specials accessible without motion inputs
  • World Tour mode gives solo players dozens of hours
  • Rollback netcode keeps online matches smooth
  • 18-character roster with free post-launch additions
  • Physical disc can be resold or lent out
Cons
  • Full price at launch; value depends on the discount you find
  • World Tour's open-world sections look dated
  • Season pass characters cost extra
  • Learning curve is still steep on classic controls
  • Single-player content thins out after the story ends

Questions and answers

Is Street Fighter 6 worth it on PS5?
Yes, if you want a fighting game with both competitive depth and a real single-player mode. At a discounted disc price it is one of the better values in the genre.
Do I need to play earlier Street Fighter games first?
No. The story and roster stand alone, and World Tour teaches the basics from scratch.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Fighting Ground supports single-player and two-player local versus without a connection. World Tour and Battle Hub need an internet connection.
What is in the box?
The Blu-ray disc and a download code sheet for bonus content, depending on the print run. No controller or DLC characters are included.
How does it compare to Street Fighter 5?
It launches with more content, better netcode and a full story mode, which SF5 lacked at launch. Combat is slower and more meter-focused.
When is it cheapest?
Physical PS5 copies drop sharply during major sales events and after each new season pass is announced. Track the price history before buying.
What do buyers say about the Street Fighter 6 PlayStation 5?
Rated 3.9 out of 5 from 153 ratings.
