Is a 12V ride-on too fast for a 3-year-old?

Top speed is usually around 2 to 3.5 mph, which is fine on a driveway with the remote in a parent's hand. For a 3-year-old, keep it on flat, soft ground and use the remote to limit speed.

How long does the battery last per charge?

Expect roughly 45 to 90 minutes of run time depending on the child's weight and the surface. Charging typically takes 8 to 12 hours, so plan on an overnight charge.

Can two kids ride in it?

Most 12V cars in this class are single-seat with a weight limit around 60 to 65 lbs. Two small children may fit, but that cuts speed and battery life.

Does the remote control steering or just forward and reverse?

The parent remote on this type of car usually handles forward, reverse, left and right, plus a stop. Check that the remote is paired before the first ride.

What surface can it drive on?

It handles pavement, short grass and packed dirt. Loose gravel, steep hills and wet ground are where the small plastic wheels struggle.

When is the best time to buy?

Prices on budget ride-ons tend to dip around Black Friday and in late spring. Compare across stores, since this class of car is often discounted heavily.

Our take on the SUGIFT 12V Electric Ride-On Car with Remote Control

The SUGIFT 12V Electric Ride-On Car is a battery-powered kids' car with a parental remote, aimed at roughly the 3-to-6-year-old range. The 12V system is a step up from the 6V cars common at the low end, so it moves faster and handles grass and small slopes better. It is a budget-brand toy, so expect basic plastics and a simple feature set rather than the licensed styling of a name-brand ride-on.
