Questions and answers

Is the Swingline 1142 worth it over a cheaper plastic trimmer?
If you cut stacks of paper regularly, the maple base and 15-sheet capacity hold up better than light plastic trimmers. For occasional single-sheet cutting, a cheaper trimmer is enough.
Can the blade be replaced or sharpened?
No. The steel blade is self-sharpening and not replaceable, so the trimmer lasts as long as the blade does.
How many sheets can it cut at once?
Up to 15 sheets of standard paper per pass. Thicker cardstock will cut fewer sheets at a time.
What is the maximum cutting length?
15 inches, with a 15-inch blade. Sheets wider than that will not fit.
Does it cut in centimeters as well as inches?
Yes. The ruler and alignment grid are marked in both inches and centimeters.
Is it safe to store around kids?
The blade latch hook locks the guillotine blade down for storage, and a guard rail runs along the cutting edge. It is still a sharp blade, so keep it out of reach of children.
What do buyers say about the Swingline ClassicCut Ingento Solid Maple Paper Trimmer 1142?
