Our take on the Talkpod F40 Family Walkie Talkies 2Pack with 4 Color Protective Skins

The Talkpod F40 is a two-pack of rechargeable FRS walkie talkies aimed at families, with 22 channels, NOAA weather alerts, an LCD screen and a keypad lock. Each radio runs on a Li-ion battery rated up to 24 hours and carries an IP54 water-resistance rating plus a drop-resistant body. The claimed 16-mile maximum range is a best-case figure and shrinks sharply in buildings, hills or dense woods. At $29.99 for the pair at talkpodonline as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a two-pack of rechargeable FRS radios costs.

Questions and answers

Is the 16-mile range realistic?
No. That is a best-case line-of-sight number. FRS radios typically manage well under a mile in neighborhoods or woods and a few miles across open water or flat ground.
Do I need a license to use these?
No. They operate on FRS channels, which are license-free in the US. The listing also mentions GMRS, which does require a license, so confirm which channels you transmit on.
How long does the battery last?
Talkpod rates it up to 24 hours, which assumes light use and standby time. Expect far less with constant talking, and plan to recharge nightly on a full day out.
Can they survive rain or a drop in a lake?
They are rated IP54, so rain and splashes are fine. They are not submersible, so a fall into water can ruin them.
What comes in the box?
Two radios, two rechargeable Li-ion batteries, four colored protective skins, and the charging setup. Check the listing for the exact charger type before buying.
Is $29.99 a good price?
It is a low price for a rechargeable two-pack with weather alerts, and only one store lists it at $29.99 as of November 4, 2026. With no competing sellers, there is little room to find it cheaper.
Where is the Talkpod F40 Family Walkie Talkies 2Pack with 4 Color Protective Skins cheapest?
At talkpodonline, for $29.99, as of our latest check.
