Is the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 worth it over the first version?

The G2 adds the VXD linear motor, closer 0.18 m focusing, a focus set button and improved coatings. It is the better buy if you shoot action or video; the original is fine for static subjects.

Does it fit APS-C Sony cameras?

Yes. It uses the Sony E-mount, so it fits both full-frame and APS-C bodies. On APS-C it behaves like a 42-112.5mm zoom.

Does it have image stabilization?

No. The lens has no optical stabilization, so you rely on in-body stabilization on newer Sony bodies.

The lens and a flower-shaped lens hood. A UV filter is not included unless a store bundles one.

How close can it focus?

The minimum focus distance is 0.18 m at the tele end, giving a 1:4.1 magnification for close-up shots.
