Is the TCL S5 worth it?

Yes if you want a large 4K Google TV on a budget with Dolby Vision and gaming VRR. Skip it if you need high brightness for a sunlit room or deep blacks.

Does the S5 support 120 Hz for PS5 or Xbox?

The panel is 60 Hz native but accepts up to 120 Hz VRR through Game Accelerator 120. Expect smoother motion and lower lag rather than true 120 fps rendering.

The TV, a stand, a remote and power cable. A wall mount and HDMI cables are not included.

Does it have Dolby Vision and HDR10+?

Yes. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, which is rare at this price.

How many HDMI ports does it have?

Three HDMI ports, one with HDMI ARC for a soundbar, plus USB for media.

Our take on the TCL 55" S5 4K Smart TV (2024)

The TCL S5 is a 55-inch 4K LED smart TV running Google TV, with three HDMI ports, HDR support (Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG) and a 60 Hz panel that accepts up to 120 Hz variable refresh for gaming. TCL's AIPQ processor handles upscaling and color, and the set covers wide 178-degree viewing angles. It is a budget-to-midrange pick rather than a bright-room showcase TV. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.
