Is the TCL QM8K worth it at $1,424.99?

It is a strong value for a 65-inch Mini LED with this brightness and a 144Hz panel. Note it has sold for as little as $1,217.16 since November 1, so waiting for a dip could save about $200.

How does the QM8K compare with the QM8 it replaces?

The QM8K adds TCL's Halo Control System, the CrystGlow WHVA anti-glare panel and higher dimming zone counts. It keeps the 144Hz native refresh and Google TV platform.

Is 144Hz useful for gaming?

Yes. The native 144Hz panel and Game Accelerator 288 VRR suit PS5, Xbox Series X and PCs, and Auto Game Mode lowers latency. You need a capable console or GPU and a 2.1 HDMI source to use it.

Does it need a soundbar?

Not necessarily. Bang & Olufsen tuning with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X is a step above most built-in TV audio. Some owners had trouble syncing external soundbars, so test that early if you add one.
