Our take on the Techko Solar Security Flood Light with Motion Sensor

The Techko Solar Security Flood Light is a wall-mounted LED floodlight that runs entirely on solar power, with a motion sensor and dusk-to-dawn operation. It puts out 185 lumens at 6000K bright white across a 180-degree beam, and the motion sensor triggers within about 15 feet. That output is modest for security lighting, so it suits small areas like a shed door, gate or side path rather than a large driveway. At $29.99 at Tractor Supply Company as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its price range across the 7 stores that list it new.

Best forRenters and homeowners who can't run wiring to a lightSheds, gates, side paths and small entry areasBuyers who want a cheap, no-electrician security lightPlaces with decent daily sun on the mounting wall
Pros
  • No wiring or electrician needed; mounts to a wall with the included kit
  • Solar powered, so no electricity cost and it keeps working in outages
  • Motion sensor plus dusk-to-dawn mode turns it on automatically at night
  • 180-degree beam angle covers a wide spread
  • Weatherproof housing for outdoor use
  • Low price at $29.99 at Tractor Supply Company as of November 4, 2026
Cons
  • 185 lumens is dim for security; it lights a small area, not a yard
  • Motion detection range is only about 15 feet
  • Brightness depends on how much sun the panel gets; weak in winter or shade
  • No dimming and no app or remote control; only an on/off switch
  • 6000K cool white can look harsh and glary up close

Questions and answers

Is 185 lumens bright enough for security?
It is enough to light a doorway, gate or short path so you can see who is there. It will not illuminate a large driveway or backyard; for that you need a wired floodlight in the hundreds or thousands of lumens.
How long does it stay on at night?
Runtime depends on how much sun the panel gets during the day. In full sun it can run through the night in dusk-to-dawn mode; in shade or overcast weather, expect shorter runtime and dimmer light.
Does it need wiring or batteries?
No wiring is needed. It has a built-in solar panel and rechargeable battery, and the mounting kit is included. You only need a spot on an exterior wall that gets direct sun.
How far away does it detect motion?
The motion sensor is rated for about 15 feet, so it triggers when someone comes close to the light. It is not a long-range detector for a whole yard.
Is it worth $29.99?
At $29.99 at Tractor Supply Company as of November 4, 2026, it is a low-cost way to add automatic light without an electrician. If you need serious brightness for security, spend more on a wired fixture instead.
Can I control it with a phone or dim it?
No. It has no app, remote or dimming. The only control is the on/off switch, and motion and dusk-to-dawn modes run automatically.
Where is the Techko Solar Security Flood Light with Motion Sensor cheapest?
At Tractor Supply Company, for $29.99, 15% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Techko Solar Security Flood Light with Motion Sensor?
Rated 4.4 out of 5 from 35 ratings.
Where can I buy the Techko Solar Security Flood Light with Motion Sensor?
