Our take on the Teslong TTS260 Thermal Monocular 256x192 Thermal Imaging Monocular Handheld Infrared Scope for Hunting, Outdoor Camping, Travel

The Teslong TTS260 is a handheld thermal monocular with a 256x192 thermal sensor, a 12 mm lens and up to 4X digital magnification. It records to the included 16GB SD card and has a rated detection range of up to 1,000 yards. The 14.5° × 11° field of view is narrow, so it works best for spotting heat sources at distance rather than scanning close cover. Questions and answers

Is the Teslong TTS260 worth it?
It is a reasonable entry point if you want a recording thermal monocular with a long rated range at a budget price. Expect basic image quality rather than premium thermal detail.
How far can it detect an animal?
Teslong rates it up to 1,000 yards, but that figure is for detection, not identification. Realistic recognition distance is much shorter, especially in poor conditions.
Does it record video?
Yes. It ships with a 16GB SD card for saving photos and video of what you spot.
What is the field of view like?
The 14.5° × 11° field is narrow, so it suits looking at distant heat sources. Scanning nearby ground takes more panning than with a wide-angle unit.
How much magnification does it have?
It offers up to 4X digital magnification. Digital zoom enlarges the image but does not add thermal detail.
When is the best time to buy it?
Thermal optics often see discounts around hunting season and major sales events. Track the price history and buy when it sits near its recent low.
