Our take on the The North Face Women's Summit Superior FUTURELIGHT Jacket

The North Face Summit Superior FUTURELIGHT is a women's running rain shell built around the brand's breathable-waterproof FUTURELIGHT membrane. It has a hood, sealed seams, a two-way zipper and a relaxed fit, and it is meant for spring and fall runs in wet weather rather than cold-weather insulation. The best new price is $333.33 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with only two stores listing it new, so it sits at the high end of what this jacket has recently cost.

Best forRunners training through rainSpring and fall road and trail runningShoppers who want a packable hooded shellBuyers who prefer a relaxed fit over a race cut
Pros
  • FUTURELIGHT membrane is waterproof and air-permeable
  • Fully sealed seams keep driven rain out
  • Two-way zipper vents heat on long climbs
  • Hood fits over a cap without flapping
  • Lightweight enough to stuff into a vest pocket
Cons
  • At $333.33 it costs more than most running shells
  • Only two stores list it new, so size and color choice is thin
  • Relaxed cut can feel baggy on slim runners
  • No insulation, so it is a shell only
  • FUTURELIGHT needs regular washing to keep breathing well

Questions and answers

Is the Summit Superior FUTURELIGHT worth $333.33?
It is a fair price only if you run in rain often and want a breathable waterproof shell. At $333.33 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a premium buy, and cheaper shells will handle occasional showers.
How does FUTURELIGHT differ from Gore-Tex?
FUTURELIGHT uses a nanofiber membrane that The North Face says is more air-permeable than standard waterproof membranes. In practice it breathes well for a hardshell, but it is not a softshell and still traps heat on warm runs.
What sizes and fit does it come in?
It is a women's regular fit with a relaxed cut, so it layers over a base layer and light midlayer. Runners who want a trim race fit often size down.
Can I machine wash it?
Yes, it is machine washable. Use a technical wash without fabric softener and tumble low to restore the water-repellent finish.
What is in the box?
The jacket only. No stuff sack or repair kit is included.
When is it cheapest?
End-of-season clearances in late fall and early spring are when running shells drop most. With only two stores listing it new as of November 4, 2026, watch for markdowns rather than expecting a wide price war.
Where is the The North Face Women's Summit Superior FUTURELIGHT Jacket cheapest?
At eBay, for $333.33, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the The North Face Women's Summit Superior FUTURELIGHT Jacket?

Where can I buy the The North Face Women's Summit Superior FUTURELIGHT Jacket?
8 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, REI, evo.com, Mountain Sports, Scheels.
