Our take on the TheONE TOD Kids Electronic Drum Set

The TheONE TOD is a tabletop electronic drum set for kids, with silicone pads, 8-color LED lighting and dual Bluetooth. It carries 25 preset kits plus 5 user kits, 308 sounds and 64-voice polyphony, and connects over USB MIDI to USB-C. It is a practice and play toy rather than a serious drum module, so judge it against other kids' kits, not full-size electronic sets.

Best forKids ages roughly 5-12 starting out on drums
Parents who want quiet, headphone-friendly practice
Small apartments and bedrooms with limited space
Beginners learning rhythm before a full kit
Pros
  • 25 preset kits plus 5 user kits give plenty of variety
  • 64-voice polyphony means rolls and fast fills do not cut off
  • Dual Bluetooth for backing tracks and app connection
  • USB MIDI over USB-C works with phones, tablets and computers
  • Color LED pads make practice more engaging for kids
Cons
  • Small pads and a toy-grade build, not a full-size kit
  • No foot pedal or hi-hat control listed, so limb independence is limited
  • Sound quality will not match a real drum module
  • Pad sensitivity and feel are basic compared with rubber or mesh pads

Questions and answers

Is it worth it for a young beginner?
Yes, if the goal is rhythm basics and quiet practice at home. It is not a substitute for a full electronic kit once a child is taking regular lessons.
Does it work with a phone or tablet?
Yes. It sends USB MIDI over USB-C, and dual Bluetooth covers audio and app connections. Check that your device or adapter supports USB-C MIDI.
Can my child practice with headphones?
Yes, a headphone output keeps practice quiet. The built-in speakers are small, so headphones are the better option for regular playing.
Does it come with a pedal or sticks?
The listed contents cover the drum module, pads, USB-C data cable and LED lighting. Confirm sticks and a pedal with the seller before buying, since they are not listed.
How does it compare with a full-size electronic drum kit?
It is smaller, cheaper and simpler. A full kit adds a kick pedal, hi-hat control and larger pads, which matter once a child plays songs or takes lessons.
When is it cheapest?
Kids' electronic drums usually drop around Black Friday, back-to-school and pre-holiday sales. Check the price history before buying outside those windows.
