Questions and answers

Is the Thrifty Ice Cream Scoop worth it?
If you want the exact cylinder scoop from Thrifty stores, it is the only way to get that shape at home. If you just need to scoop ice cream, a cheaper standard scoop does the job with fewer durability complaints.
How does it make cylinder-shaped scoops?
You press the scoop into the ice cream, then push the handle to release a packed cylinder. The shape comes from the scoop's barrel, not from rolling the ice cream by hand.
Is it dishwasher-safe?
Yes. The stainless steel scoop is listed as dishwasher-safe, though hand washing may help the push mechanism last longer.
How does it compare with a regular ice cream scoop?
It makes the Thrifty cylinder shape and carries the nostalgia, but some owners find it less practical than a standard scoop and report handle breakage. A heavy-duty conventional scoop is the sturdier choice for everyday use.
What is the best price for the Thrifty Ice Cream Scoop?
The best new price was $22.69 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, with two stores carrying it new. Compare both stores before buying, since it is a single-item purchase with little room for discounts.
Is it a good gift?
Yes for anyone with Thrifty memories. Buyers mention gifting it, and the nostalgia is the main draw. Check the scoop on arrival, since some units have arrived chipped.
Where is the Thrifty Ice Cream Scoop cheapest?
At Amazon, for $22.69, as of our latest check.
