Is 64GB of RAM overkill for gaming?

For games alone, yes; 16–32GB covers most titles. The 64GB here pays off for virtual machines, large photo and video projects, or dozens of browser tabs alongside a game.

Is the 165Hz QHD screen good for gaming?

Yes. 2560x1440 at 165Hz is a strong match for mid-to-high-end graphics cards, and it is sharper than the 1080p panels common on cheaper 17-inch laptops.

How does it compare with a 17-inch Razer Blade or Alienware?

Those rivals typically ship with 16–32GB of RAM and cost more at similar specs. Thunderobot is a smaller brand with less service coverage, which is the main trade-off.

What comes in the box?

Expect the laptop, its power adapter and the usual paperwork. Accessories such as a mouse or sleeve are not standard with this class of machine.

Only Best Buy lists it new, at $2,299 as of November 7, 2026, so there is no competing price to wait for. Watch for seasonal sales at that store.

Can I upgrade the storage later?

Most 17-inch gaming laptops of this type have a spare M.2 slot, but confirm with the seller before buying, since the 1TB drive may be the only one fitted.

Our take on the Thunderobot Storm 17 17.3"

The Thunderobot Storm 17 is a 17.3-inch gaming laptop with a 2560x1440 screen at 165Hz, an Intel Core i7, 64GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD. That memory load is far above the 16–32GB typical of gaming laptops at this size, which suits heavy multitasking, VMs and content work as much as games. It runs Windows 11 Home with Wi-Fi 6 and a backlit keyboard. The best new price is $2,299 at Best Buy as of November 7, 2026, from the only store listing it new, so there is no recent price range to compare against.
