Is this the HE formula?

Yes. It is labeled for high-efficiency washers and is low-sudsing, so it works in front-load and HE top-load machines.

How many loads does the 50 oz bottle do?

Tide rates it at 21 to 50 loads. A full cap for a heavily soiled large load uses more; a partial cap for a small load uses less.

Is it worth it over the larger bottle?

The 50 oz is convenient if you have limited storage or want to try the scent. Per load, the 92 oz and 138 oz bottles usually cost less.

Can I use it in cold water?

Yes. The liquid dissolves in cold water, though warm or hot water cleans heavy grease and oil stains better.

Is the Original scent strong?

It is moderate. Most owners find it fresh, but people sensitive to fragrance may notice it on clothes after the wash.

Our take on the Tide HE Liquid Laundry Detergent

Tide HE Liquid Laundry Detergent in the Original scent is a 50 oz bottle of high-efficiency liquid detergent, sized for roughly 21 to 50 loads depending on soil level and water hardness. It is the standard Tide formula for front-load and other HE washers, and the Original scent is the brand's most widely sold version. The 50 oz size sits in the middle of Tide's lineup: smaller than the 92 oz and 138 oz bottles, larger than the 25 oz trial size.
