Is the Toro TimeCutter 42 worth it?

For a homeowner mowing up to 2 acres with mostly open lawn, yes. Zero-turn steering and dual hydrostatic drives save time. If you need bagging or mulching, budget for those kits.

Does it come with a bagger or mulch kit?

No. It side-discharges out of the box. A bagger and a mulch kit are sold separately.

Toro's Smart Speed lets you choose ground-speed ranges, and cruise control holds a steady pace. Top speed is set by the model and is meant for mowing, not road travel.

What engine does it have?

A 15.5 hp, 500 cc Briggs & Stratton air-cooled V-twin with electric start and a battery included.

How much lawn can it handle?

Toro rates it for up to 2 acres. The 42-inch deck is the limiting factor on large properties; expect longer mowing times above that.

Zero-turn mowers usually drop in late fall and winter, outside mowing season. As of November 4, 2026, the best new price is $5,189.99 at Zoro.
